IP CCTV Surveillance Deployment Across Telangana State Co-operative Bank Branches

objective:

Telangana State Co-operative Bank aimed to strengthen the security infrastructure across all its branches by deploying IP-based CCTV surveillance systems. The primary goal was to monitor day-to-day operations, deter unauthorized access, safeguard assets, and support staff and customer safety. Brihaspathi Technologies was selected to implement a uniform surveillance setup across the bank’s branch network within the state.

Challenges :

  1. 1 Branch-Wise Customization: Each branch varied in size, layout, and customer footfall. A one-size-fits-all approach wouldn't meet the unique requirements of each location.
  2. 2 Minimal Disruption to Banking Hours: Surveillance system installation had to be scheduled so that it didn’t interfere with daily banking activities or inconvenience customers.
  3. 3 Network and Power Limitations Some rural or semi-urban branches had limited networking infrastructure or unreliable power supply, posing challenges for smooth installation.
  4. 4 Central Monitoring Requirement:The bank wanted a system that could be monitored both locally and from a centralized administrative control room.
  5. 5 Data Storage Across Multiple LocationsA consistent storage solution was needed to maintain footage securely at each branch and provide easy retrieval when needed.

Solutions :

  1. 1Customized Camera Layouts Per Branch:
Brihaspathi’s team conducted site surveys for each branch and created branch-specific installation plans, identifying critical areas like cash counters, entry/exit points, ATMs, and record rooms.
  2. 2Installation During Non-Banking Hours:
Most installations were carried out in the early morning or after working hours to avoid disrupting regular bank operations.
  3. 3Use of PoE and Local NVRs:
Cameras were powered using PoE switches, simplifying wiring. Network Video Recorders (NVRs) were installed at each branch with sufficient storage for video footage.
  4. 4Central Monitoring Room Setup:
A central dashboard was created at the bank’s head office to view live feeds or review footage from any branch in real time.
  5. 5Scalable and Service-Friendly Design:
The system was built so that new branches could easily be added, and service teams could troubleshoot without requiring major rework.

RESULT:

Successful Rollout Across All Branches
- IP CCTV cameras were installed in each branch, covering key operational and security-sensitive areas.

Real-Time Monitoring in Place
- Security personnel could monitor any branch from the central control room, improving response time and oversight.

Reduced Incidents and Disputes
- With cameras in place, there was a noticeable drop in disputes over transactions and unauthorized access.

Footage Available for Internal Audits
- Archived footage helped during audits, complaint resolutions, and investigations when required.
